APPLETREE POINT SHOREOWNERS ASSOCIATION – 2006 Minutes

President Jeffrey Haig opened the annual meeting at 10:00A.M., June 24, 2006. The meeting was held at Jeff’s house.

Reading of the minutes was waived and the secretary’s report accepted. President Haig thanked Anne Conlin for her many years of service to the organization as secretary.

The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Christine Campbell and accepted. The current balance is $6,387.94.

A history of “beach” and “road” assessments was presented by Christine Campbell and Rolfe Eastman. The “beach” assessments include paying back the association for the loan to purchase the tractor. The “road” assessments included a loan from the association for culvert and extra conditioning. A motion was made to forgive the outstanding loan balances of both the “beach” and “road” owners since the outstanding balances were nearly equal. If all debts were paid back we would have approximately $12,000 in our account and it was decided that would be unnecessarily high.

Christine Campbell gave the road report. Due to ongoing maintenance the 2006 assessment was set at $75.00 per “road” owner.

Don Conlin gave the beach report. He gave a brief history of the need for the tractor. Last year, there was no beach work due to the high water. He said the tractor works well, but it would be better with a York rake. The cost of a new rake is approximately $700. It was noted that the water may be too high for the tractor again this year.

Mike Furlong reported that the city would be willing to do the beach once or twice a summer. He said all trees and rocks would need to be moved and the city would need access. A motion was made to have the city do it this year to see how well it worked (if the water level drops sufficiently). President Haig asked to have something in writing between the city and the association. The association will retain the tractor, but defer purchasing a York rake. The motion passed.

A new beach committee was named. All members are interested in learning how to operate the tractor. The members are Don Conlin, Eric Miller, Brad Rubman, Rich Kenney and Mike Furlong.

Due to ongoing costs of tractor storage, maintenance and insurance there continues to be the need for a beach assessment. A motion was made and approved for the 2006 assessment to be set at .50 per front foot for all “beach” owners.

A motion was made and approved for the 2006 association dues be set at $25.00.
Elections were held and the following slate of officers and board members was moved and accepted by the members present.
President: Jeffrey Haig
Treasurer: Christine Campbell
Secretary: Nancy Furlong
Board Members: Don Conlin, Rolfe Eastman, Doug Campbell, Mike Furlong

A discussion was held on a suggestion that the association should hold a social occasion for members to get together. Rich Kenney offered his home (unbeknown to his wife) for an event in August. A motion was made and approved to spend $250 from the treasury to help the Kenneys with the event.

President Haig reminded the organization that we now have a website (http://appletreepoint.blogspot.com/). Check it out!

A motion was made and accepted to adjourn at approximately 11:00A.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Furlong, Secretary
